Medical Assitant Jobs are getting more popular by the day, and for good reason.
The majority of assistants (roughly 62%) work in offices of physicans. This is an excellent career option for many reasons.
1. Unlike their doctor counterparts who have to study their practice for up to eight years, medical assistants usually only have to attend school for a year or two, and can sometimes even be trained on the job.
2. The industry is BOOMING! Over the next ten years prospects look great because baby boomers are getting older and needing more medical care by the day.
3. Because there is such a shortage of assistants, a medical assistant job would provide great job security.
If you were to have one of these jobs, you would basically be the doctors right hand (wo)man. Assistants schedule visits, answer phones, fill out forms, and much more. The job is not easy, but in most cases you will be treated fairly and paid well. The industry is fairly big, there are over 400,000 thousand of these jobs in the United States alone. Another reason that this job is so deseirable are the flexible hours. An assistant can work full time or part time, they could work on the weekends if they chose, but in most cases this is a 40 hour Monday through Friday job.
The Medical Assistant Job industry is booming, with tens of thousands of new jobs forecasted to pop up in the incoming years, which is important in this economy.
